Relocations

One of the biggest curves that parents living relatively close together within the State of Colorado, and sharing parenting time with their children, can experience is the desire or need of one or the other of them to move much farther away, including in many cases, out of state.  A move by one parent, who would like the children to move too, that will change the geographical proximity that the other parent has to the children, involves a Relocation.  One parent may relocate with children only by both parents’ mutual agreement or with a Court Order.

In a Relocation, the best interests of children, as between staying and moving with one of the parents, must be determined by looking at the benefits of staying versus the benefits of moving.
